Weather Wise: The Future of Weather

Checking the weather is part of every responsible pilot’s preflight planning, and is often the main factor influencing the pilot’s go/no-go decision. Now you and your flying club members can learn even more about several different aspects of weather by viewing the Air Safety Institute’s eight-part Weather Wise video series, funded by NOAA’s National Weather Service.

The latest – and final – installment, “Weather Wise: The Future of Weather” is a look ahead. We're living in the golden age of weather flying—and things are only going to get better. So what can we expect in the years to come? This eight-minute safety video gives pilots a look at how technology will change will change the experience of weather planning and flying.

The entire series can be viewed in less than an hour, making it an ideal series to watch during a flying club safety meeting.  Weather topics covered include: learning from real-world mistakes, planning for VFR and IFR flights, inflight weather decision making, and a tour of the many features and tools on the Aviation Weather Center’s (AWC’s) website.  All eight videos can be founds online at:  http://www.aopa.org/Education/Safety-Videos.
