Club enthusiasts bring their spirit to AOPA’s Regional Fly-In in Texas

Woody at San MarcosAOPA kicked off the first regional Fly-In of the year in San Marcos, Texas in April and flying club enthusiasts were a prominent part of the crowd.  Members of local clubs flocked to the flying club tent to share their love of flying with others. Some attendees inquired about starting a club and finding members.

Others were looking for a local club to join. It was great to facilitate some activities where these pilots could meet and mingle. Many attended a seminar focused on forming a club, where Woody Cahall laced his presentation with experience and enthusiasm.

While many members expressed an interest in starting a club, the most common deterrent was not having a group of pilots to begin with. Use AOPA’s resources! List your club – even if it is no more than an idea – on AOPA’s Flying Club Finder so others with a similar interest in your area can connect with you. Others who have done that have been surprised at the responses they received.

AOPA’s next Fly-In is in Indianapolis on May 31. If you are planning to attend, come prepared to talk flying clubs! We will have a lunch “meet up” where club members can sit together and share their experiences. Look forward to seeing you there.
